Meeting Photos

May 1, 2013--Meeting Photos

We moved our May meeting to the Conservation Building in Falls Park to accommodate the enhanced presentation by our guest speaker Deb Strain.  Deb and her husband Scott presented a wide array of fabric and other products designed by Deb.

Deb walked us visually through the process of how she begins and creates fabric designs for MODA Fabric or United Notions.  She passed around her beautiful drawings and paintings which are used by the manufacturer to translate her designs into the actual textiles.  Her "trunk show" presented below is composed entirely of fabrics she has designed.  While not actually a quilter at the moment, Deb is sure she will turn into an active quilter some day soon.  Deb's daughters are all artists as well with one also designing for MODA, one teaching art at the high school level, and another working for Martha Stewart in New York City.

This quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted by Deb's grandmother using all fabrics designed by Deb.  So we know there is quilting talent in the family.
