Our Purpose --The Spring Valley Quilt Guild

The Spring Valley Quilt Guild began in Pendleton, Indiana, in 1981.  During its 30 years as an organization, the guild has:

  • Supported Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis with baby and youth quilts made by the guild and/or its members
  • Produced Quilts of Valor projects, consisting of patriotically themed quilts with a matching pillowcase, that are distributed at Veterans Administration Hospitals in the area.
  • Supported the Pendleton Historical Museum located in Historic Falls Park in Pendleton.

Everyone is invited to join the Spring Valley Quilt Guild.  The guild provides strong support and encouragement to central Indiana quilters.  Quilters of all age groups are represented in the very active membership.  While traditional quilting is the main focus of expression, newer techniques and ideas are constantly explored and presented at meetings.

The guild's main fund raising event is the annual QUILTS IN THE PARK quilt show which is mounted inside the Pendleton Historical Museum the week after Labor Day each year.  The show is open to all entrants in several categories of quilts and attracts quilters from all over the state of Indiana.

One popular feature of the QUILTS IN THE PARK show is a special quilt created by guild members to be raffled at the show.  The quilt shown below was raffled in our September 2011 show.  It is an elaborate and beautiful star quilt specially created by the members to mark the guild's 30th Anniversary.  Consisting entirely of retro fabrics the quilt showcases the abilities of the guild’s expert quilters.
